The other spreadsheet where I am using Vlookup has a formula that will take data, go out to another spreadsheet, and return the stock number. The list, as mentioned above, has blank cells scattered throughout. There is only one column that I am interested in for this lookup, and it has a list of stock numbers that consist of one letter, then 4 digits. For example, if we deliver 4 vehicles in one day, there will be 4 entries, then empty cells until the next day (there are several different columns with varying amounts of entries per day, so the column with the most entries will govern where the next day starts). I have a daily log of stock numbers that I manually enter into a column in my spreadsheet. Here is a brief explanation of what I am doing: Not sure if posting an example of the date will do much for this issue, and I am afraid that the fact that these 2 tables exist in seperate spreadsheets may be part of the issue. There are no extraneous characters or spaces in any of the cells, and the table I am looking at is only 1 column wide. I tried recreating the vlookup alone in it's own cell to see if the behavior is any different, and it is not.still resolves to "N/A".Īny insight into this would be greatly appreciated!! The cell directly below it gives the proper information. Now in the above example, it displays nothing as the vlookup resolves to "N/A". The fixed range is referenced IDENTICALLY in the cells that work, and those that don't. There also does not seem to be a pattern to the ones that work versus the ones that do. My problem is that it works for MOST of the cells, but not all, and for the LIFE of me I cannot figure out what is wrong. It goes out to a fixed range in another spreadsheet, and if that stock number is not there, it is supposed to display nothing if it IS there, it is supposed to display the stock number. I have a column of cells that will either be blank, or display some text (a stock number that consists of a letter, and 4 digits). Never had this problem in Excel, but in Open Office, it appears to be getting worse. I have several spreadhseets that talk to each other, but ever since I have gone to Open Office, I have been having this frustrating problem using VLOOKUP. I am a former Excel user, and I build complex spreadsheets that I use daily to do various things.
